On behalf of Academia Sinica, we welcome you to the 2017 International Symposium on Sustainability Science (2017 ISSS), to be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. The principal theme of the Symposium is "Interlocked challenges and opportunities in energy transformation and air pollution reduction".
As in many other countries, Taiwan needs to transition into a low-carbon society and a green economy. As we scale up renewable energy deployment during this transition period, we also need to address the problem of air pollution resulting from fossil fuels that have yet to be phased out. Tackling these challenges and seizing the transformation opportunities are major issues both for Taiwan and the rest of the world. The 2017 International Symposium on Sustainability Science aims to provide a cross-disciplinary platform for outstanding scientists to share insights on current energy transformation pathways in different regions around the world, introduce new ideas and technologies to facilitate energy transformation and air pollution reduction, offer potential win-win solutions to solve air quality and energy transformation problems, and catalyze international and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The 2017 ISSS will feature internationally renowned leaders in the area of sustainability science along with local experts and representatives from many countries around the globe. We expect this special occasion to be simulating and rewarding for all, with much discussion and sharing of knowledge and experience.
Taipei is one of the most fascinating and dynamic cities in Asia. We encourage you to explore the beauty of this amazing city at the best time of the year. Should you have any questions regarding the Symposium, please do not hesitate to contact our Secretariat at: email@example.com.
